Atletico Madrid: Petar Sučić is not our goal

Spanish football club Atletico Madrid reported on Wednesday that it does not intend to bring 21-year-old midfielder Petr Sučić from Dinamo Zagreb.
“He is not our goal. This news can be dismissed”, wrote an official of Atletico Madrid in a message sent to Hina. The Spanish portal Relevo reported on Monday that Sučić is interested in the third-placed team of the Spanish championship.
He added that the player was recommended to Atletico by former Montenegrin footballer Predrag Mijatović, who lives in Madrid. Mijatović did not answer Hina’s question whether he really recommended Sučić, who has a contract with Dinamo until the summer of 2028.
Dinamo’s coach Nenad Bjelica told Relevo on Tuesday that “many European clubs are following Sučić” and that he “would fit into any team”.
“Dinamo decided not to sell him this summer. Since then, it has developed impressively. He became an unquestionable member of the Croatian national team, and in Dinamo he plays at an extremely high level, which is why he is followed by many big clubs.” said Bjelica without mentioning the name of any club.
Sučić played 60 times for the Zagreb club, scoring five goals and assisting four times. He made his debut for the Croatian national team two months ago and made four appearances with one goal. His market price is 3 million euros, according to the specialized website Transfermarkt.
Sučić, born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, went through the youth schools of Iskra from Bugojno, Zrinjski from Mostar and Dinamo from Zagreb. He then spent one season on loan in Zrinjski, where he made 37 appearances, winning the Bosnian-Herzegovinian championship and the Cup. From the summer of 2023, he is in the first team of Dinamo, with whom he was Croatian champion last season, winner of the Cup and Supercup.
Bjelica said that Sučić is satisfied in Dinamo where they expect him to continue developing as a player.
