F1 Sao Paulo GP Results: Max Verstappen wins, Yuki Tsunoda finishes 7th

F1 Sao Paulo GP (Brazilian Grand Prix) final results. On Sunday, November 3rd, the final race of the 2024 F1 World Championship Round 21 Sao Paulo Grand Prix was held at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace. Hiroki Tsunoda (RB) finished in 7th place.

Wet conditions with an air temperature of 23 degrees and a road surface temperature of 29 degrees. During the formation lap, when all cars were fitted with intermediate tires, Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) spun out on his own and came to a stop on the gravel. The start was aborted.

However, Lando Norris (McLaren) misunderstood the yellow sign and left the grid for the extra formation lap, leading to confusion and being held back by those following him. Norris, George Russell I (Mercedes), Hiroki Tsunoda, and Liam Lawson (RB) were subject to post-race deliberations.

After that, the start was restarted, and the third formation lap was conducted at 12:47 local time, and the race started after 69 laps. Meanwhile, rain was falling steadily in Intallagos. The rain gradually became heavier, and when Nico Hulkenberg (Haas) spun on the 28th lap and the VSC came on, several cars, including Yuki Tsunoda, who gambled on a full wet race, made a pit stop. However, after that, the rain became heavier and the safety car was brought in, causing many machines to change tires.

Then, Franco Colapinto (Williams) crashed and the race was red flagged on lap 33. Esteban Ocon, the driver who stayed out, recorded the lead lap for Alpine for the first time this season, with Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Pierre Gasly (Alpine) rounding out the top three. Hulkenberg was disqualified for being assisted by a marshal when returning to the track.

Everyone changed to intermediate tires and restarted with a rolling start. Yuki Tsunoda, who restarted in 6th place, dropped to 8th place. On lap 40, Carlos Sainz Jr. (Ferrari) spun at Turn 8 and crashed into the barrier. A safety car will be introduced.

Max Verstappen took the lead at the restart, but Lando Norris went off the track and dropped to 7th, followed by Yuki Tsunoda in 8th and Liam Lawson in 9th.

The winner was Max Versuppen. He moved up 16 positions from 17th on the grid to score his 8th win of the season, his first since the 10th round in Spain in June, and his 62nd win overall. Verstappen’s rival Lando Norris finished sixth.

Esteban Ocon took second place and Pierre Gasly took third place, giving Alpine a double podium and quickly rising to sixth place in the constructors’ standings. This is the first double podium for Enstone’s team in 11 years.

Yuki Tsunoda finished in 7th place. Teammate Liam Lawson finished 9th, completing a double for the running back.
