Due to bad weather conditions, the round of 16 match of the Croatian Cup between Bjelovar and Dinamo could not be played at the City Stadium in Bjelovar.

Rain, strong wind and a flooded field, which threatened to become completely unusable, made it impossible to hold the match that many fans in northwestern Croatia were looking forward to. The team captains, together with the referee of the match, visited the field before the start and concluded that the conditions were not safe for the game.

Dynamo’s captain Arijan Ademand stated:

“It is impossible to play on this kind of pitch. The playground is flooded, and according to the weather forecast, even stronger precipitation threatens, which would most likely end the match. I’m sorry, because the organizers have done everything to make this match a real spectacle and a great pleasure.”

The coach of the Blues was of a similar opinion. Nenad Bjelicawho emphasized the importance of player safety:

“First of all, the match was supposed to be a football holiday for the people of Bjelovar and for the many spectators who came to the stadium to enjoy themselves. Yes, I’m glad that the match was canceled because we were threatened with unwanted injuries, but cold players, which we don’t need before the difficult schedule ahead of us. In any case, the match will be played in better conditions, so everyone will still get their way.”

According to unofficial information from HNS, the round of 16 match between NK Bjelovar and Dinamo will only take place in the spring, but the exact date is still unknown at the moment.
