Hajduk player Niko Sigur made his official debut for the Canadian senior national team.
The young player played in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF League of Nations, in which Canada beat Suriname 3:0 and qualified for the semi-finals. After not getting a chance in the first match, Sure in return entered the game in the 64th minute, substituting Alistair Johnston in the right back position.
In the first match, Canada won by a minimum of 1:0, while in Toronto it secured a more convincing victory thanks to goals Jonathan David and Jacob Schaffelburgwho was a double shooter. The next challenge for the Canadians will be a duel against Mexico.
Sigur already made his debut for Canada in a friendly match against Mexico in September, after he decided to end his call-up wait Zlatko Dalić to the Croatian national team. Previously, he appeared nine times for the Croatian U-21 national team. This decision caused surprise in the Croatian public, but Sigur is now building a career in the Canadian jersey.
