Hyundai Capital defeated Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance with a set score of 3-0 (25:20/25:29/33:31) in the professional volleyball 2024-2025 V-League men’s home game held at Cheonan Yu Gwan-sun Gymnasium on the 10th. Hyundai Capital, which finished the first round with 5 wins and 1 loss, gained 14 points and rose back to the lead, overtaking Korea Electric Power Corporation (5 wins, 1 loss, 11 points).
Against Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, considered their rival in the league, Hyundai Capital continued to deliver strong serves from the beginning of the game. In addition to Heo Soo-bong’s three serve aces, Hyundai Capital scored seven points through serves alone. On the other hand, there was only one player (registered name Fazli), Ali Fazli (registered name: Fazli), who scored a serve ace at Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance (1 point).
While Heo Soo-bong shook the opponent’s reception with his serve, main gun Leonardo Leiva Martinez (registered name Leo) steadily accumulated points by avoiding Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance’s interception with a strong spike and a powerful attack that caught the player off guard.
Leo led the attack, scoring 7 points (77.78% attack success rate) from the first set. In the second set, Heo Soo-bong scored 7 points, including 2 serve aces and 1 interception, further raising the team spirit.
Heo Soo-bong and Leo also played a big role in the third set, which was played on thin ice with eight deuces. Hyundai Capital succeeded in a comeback at 31-31 thanks to Kim Jin-young’s interception. Afterwards, the opponent’s reception was shaken by Heo Soo-bong’s strong serve, and Leo ended the game by hitting setter Lee Jun-hyeop’s high ball into the opponent’s court.
On this day, Leo accumulated the most points (23 points) of both teams, and became the second player in league history (the first was KBSN commentator Park Cheol-woo) to surpass 2,000 points in rear attack. After the game, Leo said, “I wasn’t conscious of the record because I was concentrating on the game, but I’m happy that I achieved the record for the second time. “I will play the season healthy and well with the goal of winning the team championship,” he said.
