Despair of 25 years old, 45 years old hope… Shin Eui -hyun prepares for the last run

It was in February 2005, which was like a nightmare. It was the day before the graduation ceremony. After graduation, I was supposed to work for a distribution company. I knew that everyday day would continue. But not. I had a dinner with my friends and drove home and crashed in front of a large truck. After four days of the accident, I had no two legs that supported myself. I spoke to my mother, who had agreed to cut legs for many years. I couldn’t sleep if it was not alcohol, and I burned a day with several cigarettes. “There is no reason to live without dreams or hope,” he said.
Married by his mother’s recommendation and a child was born, he grabbed his mind. I loved exercise, so I started wheelchair basketball in 2009. Since then, Ice Hockey and hand cycle have been in the Cross -Country, when the Nordic Skiing team was founded in 2015.
The running on the snow was not green. The first foreign training site was the Nordic Tunnel ski resort in Finnish, and I was scared to hit the corner because of the speed. When I went to the first international convention in December of that year, I could not hold the center because of the speed, and I flew the glasses. In the end, he won the gold medal for the first time in the Korean Disabled Nordic skiing at the 2017 Libip Paranodixki World Cup Cross -Country 5km Men and Cross Country 15km Men’s Site. It was also a part of the unemployment team that I was able to concentrate on training. In 2018, his passion was not broken in the Pyeongchang Snow field. He won 7.5km gold medal and 15 km bronze medal. It was also the first gold medal in the Korean Paralympic history. He said, “I was lucky,” but it was a reward for the years.
Shin Eui -hyun is preparing to participate in the third winter paralympics following Pyeongchang and Beijing (2022). After the season until March, the training has been resumed since May, and in March next year, the Milano Cortina has been sweating to participate in the Paralympic Games. Currently, he moves to New Zealand and conducts battery training (July 28 -August 26). Shin Eui -hyun said, “It is a difficult exercise, so I want to give up, and I keep thinking about ‘I don’t think this time’.
There are few Nordic ski players in their 40s due to the difficult exercise. This is especially true in Korea. There are many times when there is no competitor, so you have to continue the fight alone. However, Shin Eui -hyun focuses more on Korea’s first winter Paralympic gold medalist. Even for a daughter who plays as a high school Taekwondo player, he now vows and vows not to collapse yet.
What is Nordic Ski for Shin Eui -hyun? He said that he was “a means of filial piety” and “a means of allowing him to play a role.” At the end of despair, it was a sport that raised him again, and at the end there was Nordic Ski on the white snow.
