‘End Captain’ Oh Seung -hwan, after the season, retirement… Designated permanent number 21
The real ‘end’ of Oh Seung -hwan (43, Samsung Lions) came. Say goodbye to the ground at the end of this season.
Oh Seung -hwan announced his intention to retire at the Daegu Samsung Lions Park last weekend with Yoo Jung -geun, the owner of Lions, and the CEO. As a result, Oh Seung -hwan’s 21 -year professional life ended this year. It became the last save of the pro, which was posted as a ‘final boss’ by Save, which was posted in Kia (KIA) Tigers on August 11 last year. According to the Samsung team, Oh Seung -hwan’s number 21 will be permanently. Following 22 (Lee Man -soo), 10 (Yang Jun -hyuk), and No. 36 (Lee Seung -yeop), this is the fourth permanent in the club.
Oh Seung -hwan plans to accompany the first team without registering a separate entry. The Samsung team decided to conduct a retirement tour with Oh Seung -hwan after consulting with KBO and other teams, and set up a retirement game at the end of the season. In addition, Oh Seung -hwan decided to support overseas coach training if he wanted.
Oh Seung -hwan wore a Samsung uniform in 2005 as the first round (5th) in 2005. From the end of the first year of his professional debut, he was in charge of the team’s finishing pitcher and recorded 47 saves in 2006 and 2011, leaving 427 saves, 19 holds, 44 wins, 33 losses, and average ERA of 2.32. After the team’s three consecutive victories in the 2013 season, he entered the Japanese professional baseball (NPB) contract with Hanshin Tigers. In Hanshin, he also posted 80 saves in two seasons (2014-2015) and imprinted the image of the end of the end.
After experiencing Korean and Japanese professional baseball, he challenged the US Major League (MLB). Since 2016, he has been a set -up man in three teams: St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and Colorado Rockies, leaving a record of 42 saves, 42 holds, and 16 wins and 13 losses. I returned to Samsung in the summer of 2019 and threw the ball so far. This season, he was mainly in the second group due to a decline in skill, and in the first group, he played in 11 games and scored eight ERAs in eight innings. ROK, US, and Japan are 549 saves.
Oh Seung -hwan said in the club, “I decided to retire. I was happy to play a lot of games in various leagues as a pitcher.”
