Yamashita Miyu wins the last major AIG Open… Kim Arim tied for 4th place
Japan’s Yamashita Miyu was at the top of the AIG Women’s Open ($ 9.75 million). Kim Arim, who competed in Yamashita and Championship, was tied for fourth place.
Yamashita, an LPG rookie, hit two under par 70 strokes in the fourth round of the tournament held at the Wales Royal Force Call Golf Club (par 72) on the 4th (Korea time) and won the total 11 under par 277 strokes. Yamashita hit 11 strokes in the first and second rounds, and lost two strokes in the third round, but was at the top with the lead. Winning prize money of $ 1,46,500 (2,300 million won)
Yamashita won 13 wins for three years from 2021 to last year on the JLPGA Tour, and was the strongest in 2022 and 2023. He entered the Elpi A Tour this year as the No. 1 qualifying series last year, and won the first championship in the El PPG.
In the five major tournaments of Yamashita, the Japanese champions were two people, including Sao Mao (Shebron Championship).
Yamashita said in a foreign media after the game, “The course was definitely difficult. But it was good. It was a special thing to be part of the historical moment.”
Kim A -rim hit five birdies and six bogies on the day and hit a one -over par 73 strokes, and tied for fourth with 7 under pars. Kim Arim, who started the second place to Yamashita on the day, took the lead with the second hole (par 4) birdie, but after the first game with the 3rd and 4th consecutive views, he did not take a chance to reverse.
Kim Arim said, “I made a lot of mistakes as the weather worsened. I am sorry, but I am a good motivation. I will try more.”
England’s Charlie Hull and Katsu Minami of Japan were tied for second (9 under par), and Rio Takeda became tied for fourth (7 under par). Three Japanese players, including champion Yamashita, were in the top five.
The new Roti Word (England), who was expected, was tied for eighth (4 under par), and Kim Se -young and Kim Hyo -ju finished the 13th (2 under par) side by side.
