Croatian women’s basketball players lost to the European runners-up

The Croatian women’s basketball team lost as expected in the 4th round of Group A qualification for EuroBasket 2025 on the road to Spain in Castellon with 62-78 (18-18, 16-25, 16-21, 12-14).

After an even first quarter, the current European runners-up, Spain, took a more significant advantage in the second, and in the rest of the game calmly maintained a double-digit advantage, which on several occasions amounted to more than 20 points.

With 24 baskets, Andrijana Cvitković was the best in Croatia, Iva Slonjšak added 13, while Paula Ginzo led Spain with 15 assists.

After four rounds, Spain is at the top of the table with a win-loss ratio of 4-0, followed by Croatia and the Netherlands with 2-2 each, while Austria is at the bottom with 0-4.

In the next round, Croatia will visit the Netherlands on February 6 in a direct duel for second place in the group, while in the last, 6th round, our players will host Austria on February 9.

Placement at EuroBasket, which will take place from June 18 to 29 next year in the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece and Italy, will be won by the winners of all eight groups and the four best second-placed teams.
