Golsiani: Cartal was a dictator and it caused us to be injured/ wants to become a Turkish manager but not in that size

The former Georgian defender of Persepolis football team says that with Ismail Cartal in Persepolis, the team did not make any positive changes because he was a dictator.

Georgi Golsiani talked about the years he played in Persepolis. He made a special reference to last season and said the reasons for Persepolis’ failure. The Georgian defender of Persepolis in part of the conversation pointed to the performance of Cartal in Persepolis, saying he was a dictator and had no positive change in Persepolis.

* Let’s talk about Persepolis first. You have been in Persepolis for three years, and eventually the situation was such that the team failed to win a cup last year. How did the situation look like?

It was a difficult season for us. The first season we started with a coach and changed during the season. First Garido, then Karim and then Mr. Cartal. The most important thing that led Persepolis to fail in the season was not playing at Azadi Stadium because when Persepolis did not play in freedom, the players’ minds are diminished. That’s why not playing in freedom hurt Persepolis.

* At the beginning of the season, Mr. Garido became the head coach of Persepolis and there was a lot of pressure on him. The conditions of the results also went so far as Persepolis had virtually lost Asia. Do you think Garido was technically a good coach?

Garido was a good coach, but when you come to Iran for the first time, you have a very difficult job. You have to be lucky. Garido experienced different good and bad moments in Persepolis. I also had some good moments with him, but as I said, for a foreigner who came to Iranian football is a good thing.

* We want to talk details about last season. Some of the weaknesses in the defense line, such as the weakness on the station, made Persepolis a lot of flowers and eventually the results are not good.

When you ask such a question, you are waiting for a special answer, but the question has no specific answer. We were the same players last season when we had no flowers on the corner and station kicks. It is not very logical to connect the flaws to the players. There are details. At station kicks you need discipline, order and even luck. It is very important to have order in the station kicks and everyone has to do their job well. Sometimes when you are not on the form, it may happen to eat flowers on station kicks. If we were to blame Garido for this, it is not true because we ate the same number of flowers later and Mr. Cartal’s time. If we want to make the players beat them, it is still not true because we wouldn’t have scored on the station with these players before. The question is a good question about the station kicks, but the reality is that there is no rational answer. I can’t say that because of this or that reason we scored on the station kicks. Perhaps our team discipline had changed.

* I want to talk about Cartal. When Baqqa Persepolis came, many expect the team’s situation to change. What were the conditions for working with Cartal?

First I have to say that he came from Turkish culture. He was a coach in Fenerbahce, who was a big team but worked as a foreigner in another country and was a big team coach, but the reality is that Cartal was bigger than what he really was. Maybe he was a good coach, but he was not the first coach. He spent many hours of the day on the team’s work, but I have to say that I didn’t feel any difference. Nothing was positive when talking about quality. If I want to give an example, I have to point out the time of Osmar. When Osmar came, everything changed in a clear way. I mean, the shape of the game, the team spirit, the results, the dressing room and the pitch have changed completely. These were very tangible during the Osmar era. Because when the new coach comes, he has to bring new energy to others. It is true that he (Cartal) brought an energy with him, but I want to describe correctly, Cartal was a dictatorial coach. Like a king, or perhaps like Ataturk. It was a dictator like that. He (Cartal) wanted to put himself in the position of a dictator. This is my honest comment about Cartal.

* Persepolis lost three Cups last year and failed to advance to the Asian Elite League. However, he had won many cups years ago. What do you know about last year’s failure?

There is no specific answer to this question. The players were the same players, but there are some details in the club. The club is like a live organ. Like the body, a series of conditions may change. There are a number of factors in the club. For example, the stadium, the trainer and some other details, such as training conditions, need to be reviewed. We didn’t have the right training early in the season, and the next point is that you can’t become a champion every year. It is true that fans expect to become the League, the FA Cup and the Super Cup every year, but we had problems last year. There were logical reasons to end the season with this result.

* One of the issues that was said to be in Persepolis last season was the difference between players. What was really in Persepolis’ dressing room?

There was no tension in the dressing room, but there were players who, for example, said I wanted to be a captain and another player said I had to be a captain and on the other hand the coach had another option for the captain. Of course, these differences are in all the dressing rooms and it is not a special issue. It is true that there was disagreement, but it was not a special issue. We had a good space in the dressing room and I can’t say something bad from our dressing room.

* You have been in Persepolis for three years and won many cups and eventually you were separated. Tell those years.

Every second I spent in Persepolis was special to me. To be honest, when I am separated from Persepolis now and I don’t have a team, it’s hard for me to continue my process. Persepolis gave me energy every day. Now that I was separated from Persepolis, it’s hard for me to continue with another team. Imagine calling a regular team and says Hi Georgi, how? Would you like to come to our team? At this time my heart does not hit them at all. My heart can’t be with them. Persepolis is in my heart. It comes in football that one coach wants you and another coach comes and doesn’t want you. This is a law of football and it is not a special issue. For now, I keep myself in the same way that I can continue. Every day, I practice for about 2 hours. Non -stop and this is my motivation. I prepare myself for the future to join a regular team. This year is the World Cup year, and Georgia has important games in the coming months in the World Cup qualifiers. We have to play with Baghdad, Spain and Türkiye, which are important games for us.

* Do you think that Cartal was from Türkiye and you had a Georgian nationality in his decision to be on the surplus list?

This was certainly not effective and an impossible issue. First of all, he (Cartal) is not the head coach of the Turkish national team. Of course, he wants to become the head coach of the Turkish national team, and if he wants to reach this request, it might be better to win against Turkey so that they might be fired Vancnsu Montella and Cartal becomes the Turkish national team. Of course, I don’t think this will happen because Cartal is not as head coaching of the Turkish national team. If you remember when Cartal contracted with Persepolis, the first game he watched was Persepolis and Tractor in which I scored in the game and we won the game 2-0 at the Freedom Stadium. From the very beginning I saw Cartal, he wouldn’t talk to me at all and would not motivate me and say nothing. He lowered my motivation from the beginning. In addition, you can’t name any player who has progressed under the supervision of Cartal. All the players went back to the Cartal. I had injuries that made me lose some games but I have always been ready. However, I often ask myself why Cartal didn’t want my contract to be renewed. A question I have no answer. Of course, one at the Persepolis club told me that it may be because of your knee injury. It is true that my knee is injured, but this has been an injury for 5 years, but I didn’t lose any game due to knee injury. I care a lot of my knees. My house is almost like a medical center. When I say I can play, I can really play.

* So you would like to stay in Persepolis with these conditions. Right?

I definitely wanted to stay another season. Because of the Georgian and Persepolis national team. I was planning to say goodbye to football after a season and maybe two more seasons. My motivation was to win the championship with Persepolis and reach the World Cup with Georgia. But now I don’t know what to do. You have a plan for tomorrow, but then you see everything changed.

* As a foreign player who reached the record of Persepolis with a record of 2 games, you didn’t even get a shirt from the club. What was the reason?

True, I didn’t like that. When a new player comes, they are welcomed with a goal and welcomed him, but when you leave the club there is no goal. That was my 100th game as a foreign player for Persepolis. There was a T -shirt ready to be given to me and I thought they were giving me this T -shirt before the game, between the two or even after the game because we won the game, but when I went to the dressing room and took a shower and was leaving the dressing room, a manager came from the club and gave me a t -shirt. I didn’t get that T -shirt at all and left it there. I don’t have that T -shirt right now. When a player sets a record and is probably not a plan to extend his contract, it is a good opportunity to give him a t -shirt against the fans of a t -shirt against the fans. They (Persepolis club executives) said we were planning to give Golsiani T -shirt, but because we didn’t work in that game we didn’t do it, but that was not true and they had forgotten. They didn’t think what to do.

* What are you doing now? Do you have any suggestions from Iranian teams?

My days start now. I wake up in the morning, eat breakfast and go out to practice and then return home at 9am. I only practice from morning to evening. I hadn’t done so before, but when you don’t have a team you have to practice to keep yourself ready and keep your motivation. This has happened to me too. I’m a great warrior and I don’t want to give up. So I want to go back to Iran because Iran is my second country. If I have a good suggestion from Iran, maybe I go back. Let’s see what happens.

* What message do you have for Persepolis fans?

I received many messages from Persepolis fans that was so high I couldn’t answer everyone. I want to thank them all. They sent me good and emotional messages and felt they loved me wholeheartedly. Their hospitality made me prove to me. I take this opportunity and tell Persepolis fans that thank you for supporting me and loved my family. I don’t forget the era of Persepolis and I hope to see Persepolis fans again. If not as a player, as coach. No one knows what happens in the future.
