Attendance exceeds 9 million for the first time in professional baseball history… Achieving 10 million ‘just around the corner’
The 2024 professional baseball season has surpassed 9 million spectators and is on the verge of reaching 10 million spectators.
With 69,559 spectators attending on the 28th, this year’s KBO League recorded a cumulative attendance of 9,009,04 after 610 games.
On this day, 13,848 spectators attended Jamsil Stadium in Seoul, 13,929 spectators at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, 22,758 spectators at Sajik Stadium in Busan, 13,155 spectators at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju, and 5,869 spectators at NC Park in Changwon.
As a result, the number of spectators exceeded 9 million for the first time in 42 years since the launch of professional baseball. It has been 10 days since a new record of 8,475,664 spectators for the season was set on the 18th.
By team, the LG Twins had 1,133,851 viewers, the Doosan Bears had 1,119,571, and the Samsung Lions had 1,131,022, followed by the KIA Tigers with 1,002,15 viewers, exceeding 1 million in total attendance for the fourth time this season.
SSG Landers (951,776 people) and Lotte Giants (935,189 people) are also close to reaching 1 million spectators.
As of today, the total number of sold-out games in the season was 169, accounting for 27.7% of the total number of games.
The number one sold-out team was the Hanwha Eagles, which sold out 41 games. This is followed by Doosan, KIA, and Samsung (21 times), LG (18 times), and Kiwoom Heroes (14 times).
