Kahlina won the most prestigious award for goalkeepers in MLS, beating the French legend
Croatian goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina was declared the best MLS goalkeeper for 2024, as confirmed on the league’s official website. Kahlin (32) defended well for Charlotte FC, playing every possible minute this season and achieving the best save percentage in the league (76%).
He totaled 121 saves, and Charlotte had the second-fewest goals conceded as a team in MLS (37) and made the playoffs for the second straight season. The club set records in the number of points scored (51) and the number of victories (14), and currently ranks fifth in the Eastern Conference.
Kahlina is the first Croatian and the first Charlotte player to win this prestigious individual award in MLS. The award for the goalkeeper of the year is awarded by the journalists, players and coaching staff of the clubs, and Kahlina won the competition Hugo Lloris (LA FC) and Patrick Schulte (Columbus Crew).
This is Kahlini’s second season in America, where he moved from Ludogorets for one million euros. In Croatia, he defended for Gorica for five years, and previously played for Lučko and Vinogradar. Kahlina started his career in Dinamo, where he went through the junior categories, but never played for the first team.
