Zadar and Split recorded new victories in the domestic championship
Zadar basketball players continued their winning streak in the Croatian Championship, registering their eighth victory after defeating Cedevita Junior 68-65 on the road.
In the space of only three days Zadar defeated two Cedevites. On Saturday, he achieved an important victory against Cedevita Olimpija in the regional ABA league (81-73), and on Monday in PH against Cedevite Junior with 68-65.
It was an uncertain game in which Cedevita Junior had a chance to win overtime with a three-pointer, but Jerome Tahj Eddy missed the shot. 11 seconds before the end, the home team came close to just a basket minus (65-66), after which Krševan Klarica made two free throws to give the visitors a 68-65 lead.
Vladimir Mihailović with 17 points and Lovro Mazalin with 15 points and 11 rebounds were the most efficient in Zadar, and Mihael Tomislav Buljan with 19 points in the home team.
In the second meeting of the evening Split defeated at Gripi By the way with 89-76, defeating the visitors only in the last quarter.
The home team had seven points in the middle of the first quarter, but Zabok reduced it to just minus one (20-19). At halftime, it was +2 (38-26) for Split, which in the third period has nine extra points (51-42). However, the visitors made a great comeback to take a 60-59 advantage at the entrance to the final period of the game.
The “Yellows” played the last quarter as seriously as possible, escaping to +14 (80-66), after which there were no longer any doubts about the question of the winner.
Antonio Jordano led Slaven Rimac’s team to its seventh victory with 20 points, and Jerod Shannon Shorter, David Škara and Boris Tišma scored with 14 points each. Antonio Sikirić stood out with 19 points and seven rebounds, as well as Antonio Črnjević and Mario Rajčić with 12 points each.
Zadar leads the ranking with eight wins, Split is second with seven wins and one loss, while Kvarner is in third place with a score of 5-3.
Cedevita Junior and Cibona follow with four wins and three losses each, Dubrovnik and Zabok are at 3-5, Šibenka and Dubrava are at 3-4, and Dinamo, Vrijednosnice Osijek and Alkar each have two wins and six losses.
