Im Si-hyun, triple gold medalist in archery at the Paris Olympics, won the Korea Sports Award for Competition.
Im Si-hyeon (Korea National Sport University), triple gold medalist in archery at the Paris Olympics, was selected as the winner of the Sports Award.
On the 12th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the list of winners of the Sports Development Contribution Award and the 62nd Korea Sports Awards Ceremony.
Im Si-hyeon was honored with the award in the competition award category of the Korea Sports Awards. Im Si-hyun won three gold medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year and also won three gold medals at the Paris Olympics. He was also selected as the Korean team’s MVP at the Asian Games and Olympics, and swept the MVP award at this year’s National Sports Festival. Previously, he won the Sports Award selected by the Korea Sports Council in February.
Winners in each category were also announced, including the Referee Award Du Hwa-jeong (International Fencing Federation), the Achievement Award Son Young-wook, principal of Modong Middle School, and the Disabled Sports Award, Baek Nam-sik, president of the Korean Disabled Goalball Association, and Hansarang School teacher Heo Young-shin.
Additionally, Kim Gyu-nam, father of national swimming team member Kim Woo-min (Gangwon Provincial Office), Bang Yun-jeong, mother of modern pentathlon national team member Jeon Woong-tae (Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall), and Choi Won-young, secretary general of the Danyang City Sports Council, will receive commendations from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
A total of 36 people were selected as recipients of awards, including 30 recipients of the Sports Medal and 6 recipients of the Sports Medal. In the athlete/instructor category, shooting Kim Seo-jun (Busan City Hall), fencing Kim Jun-ho (Hwaseong City Hall), wrestling Kim Hyun-woo (Samsung Life Insurance), archery coach Ryu Su-jeong (Keimyung University) and assistant director Jang Hye-jin (Korea Land and Housing Corporation), and boccia Yun Chu-ja (Seongnam City Disabled Sports Association) 6. He is the recipient of the Blue Dragon Medal, the highest rank of the Order of Sports Merit.
