The national football teams of Afghanistan, Nepal and Tajikistan hold friendly competitions

The Football Federation of Tajikistan has announced today, Thursday (Tuesday of Scorpio), that Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan, will host friendly competitions during “FIFA Days” in November.

In these competitions, Afghanistan will hold two matches with the mentioned teams. Afghanistan will play its first match against Nepal on the 26th of Scorpio and compete against Tajikistan on the 29th of Scorpio.

Afghanistan’s national football team has recently climbed one place in the FIFA rankings and is ranked 151 in the world and 28 in Asia. The last competition of the Afghanistan national football team was four and a half months ago when they lost 1-0 against Kuwait and were prevented from directly advancing to the Asian Football Nations Cup. After that, England’s Ashley Westwood, who was the head coach of the Afghanistan team, left the team and became the head coach of the Hong Kong national football team.

The Afghanistan Football Federation will now play against its opponents with a new head coach who has chosen 30 teams three days ago. Uzbekistan’s Usman Tushef, the new coach, has promised to rebuild the team and integrate elite players for the future national football team of Afghanistan.

In order to qualify for the 2027 Asian Football Cup, the Afghanistan national football team must compete with its Asian opponents in the preliminary round from March 2025 to March 2026, and if it tops its group, it will go to The Asian Football Nations Cup will be promoted.
