The beginning of the 28th selection tournament of Afghanistan national boxing team in Kabul
The 28th round of the Afghanistan National Boxing Team selection tournament started yesterday.
According to the publications of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of Afghanistan, the selection competitions of the Afghanistan national boxing team began on Saturday, the fifth of Scorpio, with the participation of 287 boxers in Kabul and will continue for a week.
The Afghanistan Boxing Federation has organized these competitions in cooperation with the National Olympic Committee and the Department of Physical Education of Afghanistan, in which athletes from sixteen provinces of Afghanistan participate. These competitions have been held in thirteen weight categories.
It is stated in the newsletters of Afghanistan’s sports administrations that only the first and second placers in thirteen weights will be members of the national boxing team, and their number will reach 26. However, in an interview with Qadeer Soltani, head of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation, Radio Azadi asked about the fate of the third place finishers in each weight.
Qadir Soltani told Azadi Radio that there was a misunderstanding in the reports and that the people who reach the third place in each weight are considered members of the national team along with the first and second place and they will be used in the future. But he stressed that only the first and second persons are included in the monthly allowance.
It should be mentioned that the athletes of Afghanistan’s national teams in all sports fields that are under the Department of Physical Education and Sports and member sports federations, receive “one thousand Afghanis” asriyah or salary per month.
Afghanistan National Boxing Team is going to participate in Asian Amateur Boxing Championship on the 10th of Sagittarius.
