Captain Persepolis: I stayed a hearty, not financial; I rejected a European offer

“Persepolis is a team to be seen because if you are good, you will be supported,” said Persepolis women star, stressing that I rejected European offers for staying in Iran.

After years of absence from the Persepolis Women’s Football Team last year, due to the requirements of the AFC Football Confederation (AFC) and the need to have a women’s team to obtain a professional license, it began its official activity from the Iranian Women’s Football League. Despite the challenging start and the newly established structure, the team was able to perform a brilliant performance under the guidance of Shadi Rezai and won the League One Championship title in his first season and was allowed to advance to the women’s Premier League.

This success has raised hopes for the future of the Persepolis women’s team at the first level of Iranian women’s football. However, the beginning of the new season came with margins and challenges that eventually led to the resignation of the coach.

Speaking to Mehr, Fatemeh Ghasemi said about the latest status of the team for the new season of the Women’s Premier League: “The team is currently in the process of selecting the manager and training has not yet begun.” Given that there is not much time left until the start of the league, it is likely that as soon as the technical staff is finalized.

The captain of the Persepolis women’s football team, who was also one of the most influential Persepolis players in the first division last season, said: “I played only in the last season for only two games for the last season, but in the same six games I played a direct role. We had a young team with the talented players who really surprised me. The club’s facilities were good and good to win the first league.

“I was one of the first players to renew my contract,” he said of his contract with Persepolis. I had offers from the Portuguese and Greece League, but given the conditions and facilities of Persepolis and my interest in continuing the route with the team, I decided to stay with the team. My choice was not really financially. Persepolis is a big, fans team. If you play well, you will be supported at this club and it was very valuable to me.

He added: “The club has provided good facilities, including the use of Shahid Kazemi training camp with all the professional facilities such as training lawn, weightlifting, pool and sauna due to my experience from European clubs. These facilities were really important to me and I decided to stay in Iran.

“We were able to climb last season because we had a few Premier League players,” said the captain of the Persepolis Women’s Football Team about the players’ collaboration with the coach Shadi Rezaei and the problems of recruiting the new season. Our team was stronger in terms of experience than other league teams. For the new season, however, the player has become harder because many preferred to stay with their favorite coaches.

Qassemi commented on the performance of the technical staff about Shadi Rezai: “I have never had any hostility to any of the national team or club coaches and have always tried to work with everyone, including Katayoun Khosroviar, Marzieh Jafari, Maryam Iran Doust, Shadi Mahini and Shadi Mahini. About the happiness of Rezai should be realistic; He has only won the Championship twice in League One so far, and his performance in the Premier League has not been successful. I decided to renew the contract based on the championship and the construction of a team claiming, which I hope will be provided soon with the choice of a new manager.
