‘Resignation’ Incheon CEO Jeon Jeon-soo apologizes to fans… “I apologize… I feel a heavy sense of responsibility”

(OSEN=Reporter Jeong Seung-woo) Incheon United CEO Jeon Jeong-soo apologized to the fans.

The Incheon club announced on the 12th, “CEO Jeon Dal-soo will resign from his position as CEO on the 15th of this month.” Incheon experienced the pain of being relegated to the second division for the first time since its founding as the team was confirmed to be in last place in K-League 1 after losing against Daejeon Hana Citizen on the 10th.

CEO Jeon took office at Incheon United in 2019 and led the team to advance to the Asian Champions League (ACL) for the first time since its founding and to Final A for two consecutive years.

CEO Jeon Dong-soo’s contract period was until March 2025. However, he decided to step down sooner than that to take responsibility for the demotion. After the match against Daejeon, CEO Jeong Soo Jeong bowed his head and said, “As a representative of Incheon, I sincerely apologize to Incheon fans and the people who love Incheon.”

Subsequently, the Incheon club posted an apology from CEO Jeon Jeon-soo on its official social media.

CEO Jeon said, “Dearest fans! First of all, I would like to express my deepest apologies to the fans who loved and supported the Incheon United professional soccer team. This season, our club was relegated from the professional soccer K-League 1. I am devastated. “There is no way to stop it,” he began his post.

CEO Jeon Jeon-soo said, “Our club tried its best this season, but we bow our heads in apology once again for not being able to live up to the expectations of our fans. As I am responsible for the club’s unbelievable results, I fully feel the responsibility as heavy as a mountain. “I have decided to step down from my position as CEO,” he said.

He continued, “Thank you, dear fans. I have been happy to be with the fans over the years since I took office as the team’s representative in December 2018. I would like to thank the fans for their maturity and applause for our players even at the painful moment when relegation was confirmed. “I am even more grateful for your passion,” he wrote.

CEO Jeon concluded by saying, “It is not the end, but a new beginning. I am writing this to our fans, envisioning the next 21 years to be brighter and more brilliant than the past 21 years of history. Once again, I express my deep gratitude.”

Incheon has suffered many relegation crises since its founding in 2003. Nevertheless, he survived dramatically every time and earned the nickname ‘King of Residence’. However, this year, after repeated poor performance, he failed to remain.
