MLB, All -Star first ABS first implementation… Review of next year’s challenge method
The US Major League (MLB) will introduce the first automatic pitching system (ABS) in the All -Star Game this year.
US sports media, ESPN, reported that the major league secretariat will introduce ABS for the first time in the All -Star Game held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
The major leagues are considering introducing ABS as early as next year’s regular league. However, unlike the Korean professional baseball (KBO), which reads all the balls thrown by the pitcher, we are discussing the introduction of the challenge in the minor league. When pitchers, catchers, and batters are difficult to understand the referee’s decision, they ask for ABS reading.
When the referee usually determines the ball and strike, and an objection player asks for ABS reading in a way that taps the head, it will immediately result in the results of the Hawkye system on the billboard. Reading requests can be made twice per team, and the challenge is successful and the opportunity is maintained.
Major League has been experimenting with this type of ABS in the minor leagues and independent leagues for many years. The Major League Secretariat will hold a competition committee in the second half of this year and discuss whether to introduce ABS in the regular league.
