The Korean men’s and women’s national team teamed in the silver medal for the first time in the 2025 World Championship.

Korea lost 1-4 to Georgia in the final match of the International Judo Federation (IJF) World Judo Championships held in Budapest, Hungary on the 21st. As a result, Korea won the silver medal for the first time in the World Championship Mixed Team. It was in 2017 that the World Championship mixed group exhibition was held. This is the first time that Korea has stepped on the final stage.

The previous best performance is the 2017 and 2018 bronze medals. In 2018, he participated as a single team in the two Koreas. On the day, Korea won 4-0 with Kim Min-jong (Yangpyeong-gun Office) in the first round with Mongolia and defeated the strongest France 4-3 in the quarter-finals. In 3-3, Korea won the semi-final ticket when Angul Gustan, a French man or more than 90 kilograms of French men, was injured.

In the semi-finals, Germany defeated Germany 4-0. The breathing between the young leadership of Korea Judo was outstanding. The men’s team was led by Hwang Hee -tae (47), and the women’s team was led by leaders in their 40s, including Kim Jung -hoon (44) and Kwon Young -woo (44). Hwang, coach Kim, and coach Kwon are senior juniors who have been a judo national team in the early 2000s.

Hwang has been the men’s team leader since 2021 through the women’s team coach. Coach Kim is a female guidance expert. On the other hand, the women’s team did not sit in the coach because he was not qualified for the International Judo Federation (IJF) leader, but coaches filled the gap. Chung watched the game in the stands. Korea finished the tournament with one gold medal, three bronze medals, and one silver medal. The judo team will return home on the 22nd.
