Eight countries want Eurobasket 2029.

Eight countries have highlighted the official candidacy for household of the Eurobasket Basketball in 2029, the European FIBA ​​branch announced.

Among the candidates for the 43rd edition of this competition is six former hosts and five former champions.

Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain filed their nominations. Of these eight candidates, four countries will be appointed sinks.

Only Estonia and the Netherlands have not hosted the final phase of the tournament so far, while Finland tries to become the first country to host two Eurobaskets in a row because it will be one of the sinks of this year’s September competition.

Of these eight candidates, the European title was won by the Greeks, the Germans, the Lithuanians, the Slovenes and the Spaniards, and the Greeks and Germans on their own ground (Greece 1987, Germany 1993).

“The fact that we have received eight official candidates just shows how much interest in the most important European event is. Our national alliances embraced this format with multiple hosts not only as a tool for the growth of competition but as well as the way of developing our sport in every corner of the continent,” said Fiba Europe CEO Kamil Novak.
