Ha Hyeong-ju (62, photo), a gold medalist in judo at the 1984 Los Angeles (LA) Olympics, was nominated as chairman of the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation. The inauguration ceremony will be held on the 20th.

Nominee Ha Hyeong-joo made his name known by winning the men’s 95kg judo event at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. At the 2002 Busan Asian Games, he co-lighted the torch with North Korea’s ‘judo hero’ Gye Soon-hee, and was selected as a sports hero of the Republic of Korea by the Korea Sports Council last month. He was appointed as a standing auditor for the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation in August last year.
