Guardiol: I thought it would be easier for us, but then this shock happened

Croatian stopper Joško Guardiol revealed his thoughts after the defeat in Glasgow against Scotland (1:0) in the fifth round of the League of Nations.
“We did not hope for such an outcome of the match, but that is football. That’s how it ended this time. We have to move on now, we have another performance at home in Split. Everything is up to us, we have to regenerate as much as possible and prepare for that match”, he said Guardiol.
He also commented on the red card Petar Sučić.
“I commented with several teammates that I had the impression that it would get easier for us as the games drew to a close. That we would have control of the ball, but that second yellow card happened suddenly. I believe it was a shock to everyone. Of course, it is not easy to play with a lesser player, but that also happens in football. We have to learn to be strong in such situations”, said Guardiol and then added:
“I don’t remember the first foul, in the second one I passed the ball and I didn’t see what exactly happened. The only thing I’ve heard is that it hasn’t really been a constant, but we’ll let others deal with that.”
They are followed by a clash with Portugal on Monday in Poljud.
“We play a lot of games even though we are not even in the middle of the season. There are many performances behind us, especially behind a few of us. It is important to be as ready as possible on Monday.”
Defense game with four?
“We’ve played it before, since I’ve been in the national team. I have next to me Ćaleta-Cara and Šutalaon the other hand it stops Jakićthey are all quality players. And not only them, but we also have players on the bench who are always ready to jump in. As far as I’m concerned it looks very good. We will see how it will be with Portugal.”
