Bae Dong -hyun, Chairman of BDH, Chairman of the next IPC Chairman
Bae Dong -hyun, chairman of the BDH Foundation, became the first Korean to become a candidate for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Bae Dong -hyun, the vice chairman of the Changseong Group, officially declared his candidacy on June 16, and the International Paralympic Committee announced the final candidate on the 1st. In addition to Bae, Brazilian Andrew Parsons is running.
Candidate Bae Dong -hyun challenged the next IPC Chairman, ▲ Establishment of sustainable development funds and fair and transparent fiscal execution ▲ Membership -centered organizational operation and customized support system ▲ Fair and systematic classification system innovation The company announced seven pledges, including building, expanding strategic global partnerships and establishing international sports solidarity, introducing international standard accounting systems, and implementing responsible governance through transparent management disclosure.
The chairman of the IPC presides over the General Assembly and Executive Committee meetings as the representative of the IPC, and plays an important role in selecting the Olympic and Paralympic Games venue by becoming the IOC. Robert Steadward (Canada) was the first chairman of the IPC, followed by Philip Kraven (UK), followed by Parsons. Parsons was elected to beat Heidi (China), who won 84 out of 162 votes in the September 2017 election and received 47 votes.
The next IPC presidential election will be held at the regular general meeting held in Seoul on September 27, and the world’s 203 IPC membership Organizations (183 International Federation, 17 International Federation, and 3 International Organizations by Types) will participate in the voting. The candidate who voted for the majority of the votes will be elected as the next chairman.
