Controversy ‘Check Swing’… KBO introduced video reading from August 19th

The professional baseball check swing video reading, which had a lot of talk and rides, will be introduced from the 19th of next month.
The Korea Baseball Commission (KBO) held the 5th Executive Committee (General Assembly Meeting) on the 22nd and said, “The check swing video reading was planned to be introduced to the KBO League next season after piloting the Futures (2nd group) league this season, but decided to introduce early to strengthen the accuracy and fairness of the judgment.”
KBO has already installed a check swing video reading system in nine stadiums nationwide. After the test period for about a month from the 22nd game, it will be officially operated on the 19th of next month.
The ‘check swing’, which means that the batter stops in the middle of the bat, is based on whether the bat has passed the home plate. After the first half of the season, KBO installed a video camera for checking swing reading in each stadium, and decided to introduce early on the day after discussion.
Video reading criteria are the same as the standards applied by the current Futures League. When the batter is wielding the bat with the intention of hitting, the bat is determined as a swing strikes when the bat’s end goes in the direction of the pitcher rather than the baseline that is parallel to the front of the home plate. However, the bunt attempt is not subject to check swing video readings.
You can apply for both teams regardless of the airborne. The attack team can apply when the defensive team is judged to be a swing and the defensive team is not a swing. Check swing video reading, like other reading applications, must apply within 30 seconds after the referee’s decision. Video reading opportunities, including check swing, are two regular innings, and if the referee decision is reversed in the regular innings, two times are reversed, the club will be given one additional opportunity. If the extra time is unfolded, one opportunity is added per club.
Meanwhile, KBO decided to hold the Futures League championship match this year at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on October 3rd.
