The same dream of Hong Myung -bo and Moriyas Hanil, “I want to get on the World Cup Final”
The 60th anniversary of the Korea -Japan diplomatic relations between Korea’s Hong Myung -bo and Japanese director Moriyas Hajime was released on YouTube on the 10th.
The two men’s soccer team managers in both countries are 56 -year -olds and met in players. The two coaches shared their opinions on the talks in Chibashi, Japan, on the 26th of last month, about the first impressions and players of each other, the memories of the Korean -Japanese and the World Cup, the teamwork and leadership, and the future of Korea -Japan soccer. The two also hoped to meet in the 2026 North and Central America World Cup finals.
First, they started talking in August 1992 in the Dynasty Cup Korea-Japan War (0-0 draw) in Beijing, China. Hong Myung -bo said, “Whenever the game was held after the game, Moriyas’s name was mentioned. The impression was the play style.
Moriyas said, “It was my first day of Japan. It was a strange feeling that seemed to jump into the world. Korea was really strong.”
Hong said, “At the time, Japan was a time when new strong players appeared. “Japan had a lot of really good players during the 1993 qualifiers. Korea went out in the 1994 World Cup, but I felt strongly that Japan would soon go to the World Cup.”
Hong mentioned three scenes regarding Korea -Japan War. He said, “I remember the game that won 0-1 in Doha in 1993, won 2-1 in the (France) World Cup qualifiers in September 1997, and won the 3rd and 4th place in the 2012 London Olympics as a manager.”
Moriyas was retired from active duty in 2003 and Hong Myung -bo retired in 2004 and met as a leader. The two cited dedication and sacrifice as the basic value of the national team operation.

Moriyas said his ambitions for the next year’s World Cup. “Dreams are being fighting with the goal of winning the World Cup. Of course, you may say, ‘What are you talking about?’ But I believe it’s not impossible to fight a game. It’s also the result of our efforts, but thanks to Korea’s fourth round in the 2002 World Cup. “I will be very happy if I compete in the final stage with Korea, a colleague who will lead Asia.”
Hong said, “It is my goal and my mission to go to a place we haven’t seen before. It is also a task to create a strong and mental team. I want to see Korea and Japan working on the World Cup final stage and I want to realize it.”
The two coaches also sympathized with the cooperation of Korea -Japan football. Moriyas said, “Korean football is a colleague and rival. As it is a neighboring country, I think it is a colleague who can share information and level up. I want to cooperate with Hong Myung -bo.”
Hong also said, “In Japan, experience has grown me as a soccer player. I taught me that I couldn’t play in Japan unless it was tactically and technically delicate.In the 1998 World Cup qualifiers, the banner of ‘Let’s go to France together’ caught Korean supporters. I don’t forget, and I want to create a new future again. ”
