(Cheonan = Sports Chosun Park Chan-jun) Hwang Ji-soo, Pohang U-18 (Pohang Steel), is a legend of Pohang.
He made his debut in 2004 and played only at Pohang Steelers until he retired in 2017 except for military service. Pohangman is even after the transformation of the leader. Hwang, who started his life as a coach in Pohang in 2018, took the lead of the Pohang U-18 team since 2022. Hwang, who knows Pohang DNA better than anyone else, is growing a new golden generation.
It wasn’t from the beginning. The runner -up Jinx caught the ankle. Hwang said, “I first won the runner -up five times. Then I won the second half of the K -League Junior in two years. Since then, I have won the Baekwoongi competition and the first half of the K -League. The power to overcome this was ‘tuck’. Hwang said, “I believed that the results would follow if the content was supported. I vowed not to follow the results, and I actually followed.”
Hwang, who was the incarnation of the determination as a player, emphasized the posture. He said, “It’s important to win the championship, but how competitive it is to produce. The club also sent me to the U-18 team.” The most important thing is to talk about football.

Hwang plays ‘flexible football’. It depends on the composition of the player. If you have a traditional attacker, you play ‘Bold Soccer’, and if you have a lot of good skills, you play ‘cute football’. Of course, the basic screening and tactics are matched to Team A. Hwang said, “It is easy to adapt when the players go up after following the A -team formation. The players are also trying to get used to watching the game and training frequently.”
Pohang DNA still remains for the U-18 team. Hwang said, “There was a lot of rumors that our members were not good this time in the winter. So I trained more, and I was not good enough.
Hwang’s Pohang will challenge the ‘2025 GROUND.NK League U18 & 17 Championship’. The tournament, where youth teams from the K -League teams participate, will be held in Cheonan from 12th to 24th. Hwang, who stayed in the runner -up in 2022, said, “It is a competition that players are the most important. In power, they are pushed to Seoul and Suwon, but if they do their best, they will have a chance.”
