Hwang Moon-ki (Gangwon FC), who recovered from injury, will not be able to play against Pohang Steelers. This is because of the Korea Football Association (KFA) national soccer team management regulations.

On the 4th, Hwang Moon-ki was selected to the national soccer team led by coach Hong Myung-bo. However, two days later, on the 6th, he suffered a minor hamstring injury during training with his team.

The next day, on the 7th, Hwang Moon-ki visited the club’s designated hospital for the first time and the national team doctor’s hospital for the second time to check his condition. Afterwards, based on KFA’s judgment, he was notified of being canceled from the national team.

Hwang Moon-ki, who suffered a hamstring injury, was excluded from the roster for the league match against Suwon FC held on the 9th. However, he recovered quickly and was able to participate in the final match against Pohang in K League 1 on the 23rd.

However, according to Article 9, Paragraph 6 of the KFA National Team Operation Regulations, ‘If a player who has been notified of a call-up fails to participate in the call-up, the player may not participate in any official game of his/her team during the period of the national team’s call-up and 5 days after the national team’s disbandment date. I cannot compete. However, it is stated that if separate approval is obtained from the association, the player may participate in the official game of his/her team.

According to regulations, the final match between Gangwon and Pohang will be held less than five days after the national team was released from the national team, so even if he has recovered, Hwang Moon-ki cannot step on the pitch. Gangwon hoped for separate approval, but KFA called for Hwang Moon-ki not to be able to play.

An official from the Gangwon club said, “We attempted to obtain the association’s approval through an official document in accordance with Article 9, Paragraph 6 of the national soccer team’s operating regulations, but it was rejected, and Hwang Moon-ki’s participation was cancelled.” He added, “Article 9, Paragraph 5 and 6. The port appears to be intended to prevent cases of people exploiting injuries while also preventing innocent victims. Hwang Moon-ki voluntarily visited the national team’s doctor’s hospital to check on his condition, and in fact had no intention of abusing the system, such as not being able to play in the game on November 9. He expressed regret, saying, “If Hwang Moon-ki cannot play, the club and the player will become innocent victims.”

It appears that Gangwon will have difficulty operating a normal defensive line in the final match against Pohang.

Defender Lee Ki-hyuk, who joined Hong Myung-boho this month, will arrive in the country on the afternoon of the 21st. Center back Kang Tu-ji, a member of the Montenegro national team, will finish his national team schedule on the same day and set foot on Korean soil. Both of them have to train for one day on the 22nd and then go to battle.
